Phrases I tend to repeat after every three sentences or so in a conversation.. be it telephonic or chat..
Aur Bata -with my Hindi speaking friends
Apparum..Vera enna - For Tam friends
Then... What else.... -for all the English conversations
Sometimes the same sentence in different language combinations, features in the same conversation!!!
Gosh I really need to find interesting fillers for conversations ;) Help me ;)

Apparam...Vera enna - A good equivalent for this would be a small lie like "ennamo solla nenachen...marandhutten..." this would make the person on other end to think something instantly an interesting thing to tell you (u can use this if you want to continue the conversation)
If you get bored with the other end, you can suddenly ask the person in between a sentence like "haeeee...time enna aachu...?" Whatever the time he/she tells you may just say "hyoooo... I forgot to do this thing...or that thing..." even if you dont have anything to do...and you can endup the call nicely...
